With reference to our letters of the 29th April

we have, since writing you, received a further telegram from our Hongkong friends advising us that the prohibition of export applies also to candles. We have not had a similar advice from Singapore that a like prohibition in regard to candles is in force there also,but have little doubt auch is the once.

llyou please therefore take everything we have

written in our two letters of 29th April in regard to wax

as applying equally to candles; the only exceptions are Japan, Korea and Siberia as we do not export candles to these coun- tries but only wax.

We might point out that the wax and eandle trades are very closely allied and conducted in the countries dealt with in cur letters for the most part on similar lines.
